What is a social and why are they important to Sinclair?

Socials are a pilar of our amazing Sinclair community and are events that are generously hosted and paid for by Sinclair parents, staff or teachers. Historically, tickets were sold as part of the annual auction but starting this fall, we are excited to be hosting socials in October to January with spring Socials still being a part of the auction event. Socials are an amazing way to get to know other families at Sinclair so instead of waiting until the last half of the year to hold these events, we are very excited to get them kicked off in the fall.

What do I need to know about hosting a social?

Hosts choose an event theme, guest type (adults only, grade specific etc.) date, guest limit, venue and ticket price and offer the experience as a donation to the school. You can choose to host on your own or pair up with other parents or a teacher/staff member. Socials do not need to be elaborate or expensive to be fun! Please submit your social idea in the form below.

What are some ideas for a social?

  • Pumpkin carving party
  • Progressive Thanksgiving dinner
  • Holiday ornament making party
  • Favorite things party
  • Holiday themed movie night
  • Mom’s mahjong night out
  • Dad’s poker night

Once I submit a social, what happens next?

The PTO will promote your social but you’re welcome to spread the word as well. Sinclair community members will purchase tickets on the GiveSmart platform – tickets often sell out quickly! After ticket sales close, the hosts will receive a list of guests who purchased tickets along with their contact information so you can send out event details.

What are the key dates?

  • Fall Socials Submission Opens – August 28**
  • Fall Social Submission Closes – September 18
  • Fall Social Ticket Sales Open – September 23
  • Fall Socials Happen! – October 1 – January 31

** If you have an idea for a Spring Social, you don’t need to wait until January to submit it.
