What is the Auction?

It’s the best night ever in Barbie Land (Sinclair)! Our Auction is our largest annual fundraiser for Sinclair. And it’s a chance to get together as parents and friends, have a great time and raise funds for our students. This year, our auction is planned for February 27th, 2027 at SPJST Lodge 88.

The theme is Sparkle Soiree: A Night in Malibu. Because, just like Barbie, our kids can be anything! But, unlike Barbie, this event is adults-only event. So be sure to arrange childcare in advance.

Please Note: Aft3r, our afterschool partner, will be offering childcare during the event. We’ll share more information on cost, time frame, requirements, and day-of details as we get closer to the event.

What does the Auction fund?

Last year’s auction funded our playground sunshade, a school-wide mural, upgraded technology equipment and many other improvements throughout the school. This year, every dollar raised at our auction goes toward upgrading our school’s safety measures: updating our entry buzzer system, key card entries, and improving window coverings. These enhancements give our children the safeguards they need to learn, thrive and grow up to be anything they want to be.

Can my kids come?

This night is for grown ups only, so you do need to make arrangements in advance. Thankfully, Aft3r, our afterschool partner, will be offering childcare during the event. We’ll share more information on cost, time frame, requirements, and day-of details as we get closer to the event.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We’d love for you to join our team of volunteers!

Depending on your interests, you can help solicit donations and sponsorships, event logistics, decor, or even day of support: setting up, tearing down, running the silent and live auctions, managing the wine and liquor pull, and volunteer coordination or check-out tables. Even if your job is just Beach, we want you on the team.

You can also volunteer to host a social. Socials are a special way to help raise funds for our school AND connect with our community. Socials can be anything from a kid’s movie night, a swim party, bourbon tasting… if you can dream it you can do it. See below for more details if you’re interested in hosting one.

Can I donate something to be auctioned at the event?

Absolutely! If you are connected to a business or service that would like to make a contribution towards our live auction, silent auction or auction basket we’d love to hear from you. Email us at silentauction@sinclairpto.org for more information.

What’s the difference between live auction, silent auction and the auction baskets?


Live Auction Items
The highlight of the night, featuring crowd favorites like Fly Your College Flag and Principal for a Day, along with exciting big-ticket items! We’re always looking for standout experiences to feature: vacation homes, airline miles, designer jewelry, special event access, or unique dining experiences. If you have something amazing to donate, we want to hear from you.

Silent Auction Items
Our Silent Auction is hosted online via GiveSmart and includes everything from gift cards, birthday parties, wine tastings, and spa experiences to camps and services. If you have a connection to a business that would donate a good or service, please reach out!

Auction Baskets
Calla Shuman is coming back again this year to help us with her legendary auction baskets. They’re massive, beautiful, and thoughtfully curated with help from our generous community.

How do sponsorships work?

We love to celebrate the generous businesses that support our community. And sponsorships are the best way to showcase them! We have several levels of corporate sponsorships to suit any business’s needs & budget.

If you own a business (or have a strong connection to one that might be interested) we’d be so grateful if you’d share our sponsorship link with them.

Sponsorships will be recognized and celebrated throughout the night and in our school communications. From shout-outs to signage, we want our families to know who’s helping make Sinclair shine.

Family sponsorships and individual tickets will go on sale starting October 1st, with special presale pricing available through October 14.

What were you saying about Socials?

Socials are a pillar of our amazing Sinclair community and are events that are generously hosted and paid for by Sinclair parents, staff or teachers.

Historically, tickets were sold as part of the annual auction but starting this fall, we are excited to be hosting socials in October to January with spring Socials still being a part of the auction event. Socials are an amazing way to get to know other families at Sinclair so instead of waiting until the last half of the year to hold these events, we are very excited to get them kicked off in the fall.

The Fall list of Socials will be released at the Mom’s Night Out on October 1st, and Spring Socials will be released on February 22nd.So you can plan ahead and snag your favorites. All ticket proceeds go directly to the PTO to support our school. And the events themselves are always a blast.

Some past Socials have included:

  • Grade-level bowling or swim parties for kids
  • School movie nights
  • Cookie decorating for kids and parents
  • Cocktail tasting
  • Flip Cup Tournament
  • Mahjong night

When do I get to see the auction items?

We’ll release plenty of our items ahead of the event so you can browse and pick your favorites. All of our silent auction items, socials, and teacher experiences will be available for remote bidding the night of the auction through our online platform, GiveSmart. Keep an eye on the PTO website and ParentSquare for updates.

What if I can’t make the event?

Yeah, we know that there happens to be another big event that night that rhymes with schmodeo cookoff. We won’t banish you like Weird Barbie if you choose a tent party over us. But, if you can’t join us in person, maybe you’ll consider donating online through the GiftSmart platform.
